Practice and Purpose
Upaya and Upeya-sanskrit for practice and purpose, or rather path and goal. Remember that as the goal, the destination, remains the same, the path changes along the way. How does this relate to our yoga practice? We first look at our superficial selves, validated by our success in the world, our relationships and our place in the world. As we keep practicing, we can gain a deeper experience of self and each time go a little bit deeper and stay a little bit longer. The deeper we explore within, the more we feel like our own self. Can we learn to cultivate affection for this inner observation and detach from the seduction of pose and practice? Or is physical mastery really our goal? Let's not confuse our practice with purpose-Our Absolute, Perpetual, Euphoric Essence.
